JEWELRY INSPIRED BY HISTORY, THE NATURAL WORLD, AND THE LANGUAGE OF SYMBOLS. DESIGNED TO SHARE YOUR STORY AS YOU LIVE IT.
The Story Behind Amanda Hufford Studio
I have always been curious about and designed for the relationship between human, material, and context. After receiving degrees in 3D and environmental design I worked in several jewelry design studios while developing my own design craft creating one-of-a-kind objects that exhibited locally and internationally. Following a career in architecture designing large-scale sustainable, socially impactful, and context-driven projects, I have returned full time to silversmithing with a goal to build a sustainable jewelry brand around the same principles.
Influence & Inspiration
I have always been curious about the world. Living, traveling, and working across cultures and coastlines has shaped so much of who I am and what I design. I am drawn to history, tradition, the language of symbols, and the way objects carry stories that connect us across time and place.
The oyster is a motif woven through my work and physically present in each of the places I've called home. A metaphor that represents everything I believe in and what drives my business: resilience, perseverance, and the slow, deliberate making of something beautiful from whatever life brings.
Process & Materials
I work with the properties of precious metals, not against them. Milled silver and gold is malleable, able to be formed and fabricated. Melted and poured, the metal yields to the mold: an element of chance, texture, and time. Sand gathered from coastlines and landscapes that have meaning becomes part of the object.
The marks of the hand and tools remain and become objects with a story of their own before the story we give them.
What Makes Amanda Hufford Studio Different
'What sets my jewelry apart is what sets you apart.'
I don’t design to follow trends. They are made to resonate, to be layered and stacked and mixed, to be worn your way and made entirely your own.
Every design carries inherent meaning. A story that weaves into the wearer's own. A motif like the Bright Moon symbolizing faith and connection, a contemporary interpretation rooted in history and emotion like the Sand Bar necklace evoking the memory of a childhood coastline, or the Poesy Collection, personalized with words meaningful to you.
Sustainability
I believe sustainability goes beyond surface-level choices and into a commitment to the longevity of what we create.
I use recycled precious metals and findings produced in the US, which requires accountability at every stage of production. I work in small batches and collaborate with local artisans and service providers. And I practice adaptive design by creating pieces that are inclusive and adaptable to accommodate a variety of wearers’ requirements.
Mission & Vision
MISSION
To build an ethical jewelry brand trusted for handcrafting beautiful pieces with emotion at the center. Rooted in classic designs interpreted for today and created to become the heirlooms of tomorrow.
VISION
To become the destination for sustainable, meaningful American craftsmanship. Jewelry designed for everyday and every occasion, lived-in luxe, inspiring all to buy better and buy to last.
Values
AMERICAN CRAFTSMANSHIP
American-made, end to end. Every aspect of production stays within the United States. A celebration of traditional craftsmanship and a commitment to American makers and businesses.
ENDURING
Designed to last, AHS pieces get better with each passing year, passed down through generations, and cherished for lifetimes to come.
STORYTELLING
Jewelry that is deeply and uniquely personal. Personalized pieces mark your moments, memories, and aspirations. Symbolic design motifs rooted in meanings we have collectively created over centuries. The object itself carries the story of its making. You, the wearer, assemble all of these elements into something entirely your own.
RESPONSIBILITY
The inspiration I take from the natural world and culture comes with an inherent responsibility to preserve and protect it. I am led by that commitment and use recycled solid gold and sterling silver, a production process and philosophy that limits waste, and an adaptive design strategy rooted in inclusion and flexibility.
FAQs
How long does shipping take?
Ready to ship items are normally mailed using the USPS within three business days unless otherwise stated. Personalized orders may take up to 10 business days to complete and sometimes longer during busy seasons. Made to order and custom projects are assessed on individual basis and will be communicated and agreed upon based on workload and customer needs.
Are your pieces made to order?
We are unable to accept returns on certain items. These will be carefully marked before purchase.
When will I get my order?
Many designs are made to order. In fact, my process (sand casting) means I am making only one or two pieces at a time. This method of production provides two main benefits: first it means no to pieces are exactly alike so even when you purchase one of the permanent collection pieces it's made for you! second, this process means I am not keeping a large amount of inventory on hand and allowing me to, in some way, mitigate the impact of rising precious metal prices.
Do you offer custom or personalized pieces?
Yes! Pieces in my core collection: The Poesy collection and the Sand Bar Necklace are personalized indeed with complimentary stamping. I have some new personalized options coming soon! (Make sure you are subscribed to my email list for more information and launch updates. )
What is your return policy?
Because I'm an independent maker and many pieces are made to order or personalized, I'm not able to accept returns. That said, your happiness matters to me — if something arrives damaged or there's an issue with your order, please reach out and I'll do my best to make it right.
Where is your jewelry produced?
I craft all the jewelry, by hand, in my North Carolina studio! Occasionally I partner with other independent artisans who have certain technologies and/or capacities that I don’t have in my small studio. I am committed to doing my best to maintain a sustainable and ethical practice I source all of me raw materials, findings, and packing within the USA.
Do you offer wholesale or corporate gifting?
Yes! We love partnering with carefully selected boutiques and retailers who align with our values, and we welcome organizations looking for personal, meaningful gifts for clients, teams, and special milestones. Reach out through our contact page to start the conversation.
